How to get Creative with Baking Soda in Your Apartment

Baking soda is so amazing! It comes with a lot of surprises that something that is as cheap as this could have a very versatile applications. The usage is so encompassing to the extent that one could hardly pin down what people actually use it for mainly. From removing stains and keeping your sneakers smell good, down to getting rid of sweet tooth and as a leavening agent in baking, This household product has proven to be the secrete behind many healthy homes. Because it is mildly abrasive but safe to consume and have contact with, one can actually use baking soda for a myriad of things. 
Here are some of the best uses for this products. 

Baking soda benefits your health in tons of ways. It is a household item one can easily run to when having some health emergencies. Here are ways baking soda can benefit your health;   
Sunburn and itchy skin
You can use baking soda to relieve sunburn and itchy skin. All you need to do is add some of it to a warm water and have a soothing bath with it. 
Burns and Insect Bites
Burns are frequent accidents we experience at home especially in the kitchen during cooking sessions. This pain can come in between our fun and even ruin our entire taste for the delicacy being cooked. When next you experience such a distasteful occurrence, make a paste with baking soda if you are having any by mixing it with water, apply to the burnt area to relief pains.  The same goes for insect bites too. 
Taming your sweet tooth 
For those of us who have issues with managing our tastes for sweet things, baking soda can offer some help. When you crave for sweet stuffs but don’t want to have any bingeing session of sugar, simply rinse your mouth with one-teaspoon baking soda dissolved in a glass of warm water. Be sure not to swallow the mixture rather spit it out, your cravings for sweet should disappear instantly. This is a very easy way for those that wish to tame their sweet tooth.  
Removing Pesticides
You can get rid of pesticides, dirt, waxes and other heavy chemical from fruits by washing the fruits in a bowl of water containing baking soda. The toxins should be eradicated from the fruits real quick. 

The application of baking soda in our kitchen is endless! But let just look at a few;  
Use it in your Fridge 
A cup of baking soda exposed in your refrigerator can help keep the fridge smell away. With so many things stock in there, our refrigerator tend to ooze some very unpleasant odors. One of the best ways to arrest those smells is by keeping a cup of baking soda open in your fridge.  
Unclog a clogged drainage
Sometimes, our washing basing get clogged with dirt, thereby preventing water form flowing. Situations like this can be resolved when you have a baking soda. Simply pour a cup of baking soda into the opening of your clogged drain and add a cup of hot vinegar. After a few minutes, flush the drain with boiling water. The pipe should be free of any blockage.
Remove Stains 
Baking soda can cut through any grits and grimes. Introduce it into your washing and cleaning routines. It has a good reputation on removing hard stains from tea and coffee cups. Wipe them with a damp sponge dipped in baking soda paste. You can also use baking soda to treat pans and pots with burnt bottoms. Boil few cups of water in a pan with a burned bottom, turn off the heat and add a half cup of baking soda. Let it sit overnight. The burnt will dissolve and the pan will be easy to wash.  

Soak your toothbrush 
When your brush becomes brittle, soak them overnight in a warm water containing baking soda. 
Wash your clothes with it
It is very good at removing hard stains from cloths. Soak your stained clothes with baking soda and add some detergents. Leave for a while and wash as usual.
