If there is anything human beings are scared of while they age is the development of a wrinkled skin. Most of us would like to bypass this call of nature if we have the chance. However, going wrinkled is a natural aging process but it can be reduced to the barest minimum at least if not completely, when we engage in some certain activities and life style changes.
Avoid much direct contact with the sun.
It is a generic believe for everyone that making contacts with the sun can lead to a sun tanned skin. Not only does it make the skin look tanned but also could increase wrinkles.
In one study that looked at identical twins, it was found that sun exposure was even more important than heredity. Siblings who limited sun time had fewer wrinkles and looked younger overall than their sun-worshiping twins.
Don't smoke.
Although to some people this still looks like a controversy but more and more research are confirming that cigarette smoke could cause wrinkles in the skin. Collagen and Elastin are structural proteins that gives resilience to the skin and makes it look rigid and elastic. Research have found that cigarettes release some enzymes that breaks down these proteins there by limiting their function.
Get adequate sleep.
It is said that there is no medicine that is as good as an adequate sleep. Sleeping is so important because that is when our body tends to rejuvenate, recovering from any stress or whatsoever we must have gone through and it is actually the time our body metabolism tends to work optimally. Whenever we are stressed, our body releases a substance called cortisol, a hormone that can break down the skin due to stress. Research have found that when we sleep, our body produces more growth hormone called thyroxine which helps us to rejuvenate and can trigger the production of more collagen and elastin to make our skin looks thicker and more elastic.
Eat more fruits and vegetables.
Fruits are good source of antioxidant. These compounds fight damage caused by free radicals (unstable molecules that trigger oxidation and damage the cells), which in turn helps skin look younger and more radiant, and protects against some effects of photoaging, a premature aging process that occur due to Ultraviolet Radiation from the Sun or other light emitting substance such like X-rays and gamma rays.
Use moisturizer.
Moisturizers are substances that prevents the skin from drying up by helps it retain moisture. They are formulas used in most creams and soaps, they make the skin look fresh, moist, and glowing, which is a bonus when it comes to preventing skin wrinkles.
Avoid bathing warm water
Avoid excessive bathing of warm water, warm water can reduce the natural oil produced by the skin and can also have effect in the breakdown of collagen and elastin.
Eat quality proteins
Protein foods helps repair worn out tissues. It provide the necessary amino acids needed for the production of structural proteins such as Collagen and elastin. Fish, milk, beans, and brown rice, are a very good example of such food.
Botox.
An injection of this purified version of the Botulinum toxin A relaxes the muscle just underneath the wrinkle, allowing the skin on top to lie smooth and crease-free.
