Actually, winstrol is a popular brand of anabolic steroid Stanozolol, a synthetic derivative of testosterone, a potent androgenic hormone produced chiefly by the testes; responsible for the development of male secondary sex characteristics. Winstrol was developed by Winthrop Laboratories in 1962. Winstrol today is one of the most used drugs by the muscle builders.
Winstrol (Stanozolol) comes in two forms – oral and injectable anabolic steroid. It is commonly marketed as Winstrol (oral anabolic) and Winstrol Depot (injectable anabolic). Stanozolol is sold in tablet form in winstrol oral, and each tablet for oral administration contains 2 mg of stanozolol. Stanozolol is not esterified and sold as an aqueous suspension in winstrol Depot. Winstrol has a large oral bioavailability, due to a C17 a-alkylation that allows the hormone to survive first pass liver metabolism when ingested. It is because of this that winstrol is also sold in tablet form.
Winstrol has been approved by the United States FDA for human use. Winstrol is medically used to treat a number of conditions in both animals and human patients. In humans, winstrol is often used to treat anaemia and hereditary angioedema, which causes episodes of swelling of the face, extremities, genitals, bowel wall, and throat. In animals, winstrol is often prescribed to improve muscle growth, red blood cell production, increase bone density and stimulate the appetite of debilitated or weak animals.
Besides, winstrol is one of the most widely used, rather abused anabolic steroids among muscle builders and other jocks. However, overuse or high doses of winstrol may often cause serious side effects. Some of the side effects that you may experience may include – allergic reactions, such as difficulty in breathing, choking of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives; swelling of the arms or legs, especially ankles; frequent or persistent erections, breast tenderness, breast enlargement (males), voice changes (hoarseness, deepening), hair loss, facial hair growth, clitoral enlargement (females), menstrual irregularities (female), worsening acne, difficulty in sleeping, headaches, and changes in sexual desire.
Because of these serious side effects, winstrol is classified as a Schedule III controlled substance under federal regulation. The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has banned winstrol from use in sports competition.
