President Bush – On Steroid Use In Sports

The United States President Bush in his State of the Union address 2004 urged team owners, players, coaches and union officials to crack down on steroid use in sports; in fact, urged them to eliminate steroids from sports.
Speaking on steroid use in sports, the former owner of the Texas Rangers baseball team, President Bush called for pro sports leagues and athletes to set better examples for children and "get rid of steroids now."
Bush particularly referred to steroid use in Major League Baseball and the NFL that were all set to implement a strong policy against steroid use in sports.
Bush said, “Unfortunately, some in professional sports are not setting much of an example; steroid use in sports, such as baseball, football and other sports is dangerous, and it sends the wrong message – that there are shortcuts to accomplishment and that performance is more important than character.”
The president of course was signaling about BALCO controversy. As a former team owner, President Bush has great appreciation for sports, but his is strongly in favor of fabricating the sternest polices against steroid use in sports. It will really be for the good of sports and sports persons.
The President’s stance on steroid use in sports is appreciated by many like me. I strongly agree with the president that steroid use in sports send wrong message; it certainly does send a wrong message. Youngsters follow superstars; if their superstars use steroids in sports, they will surely follow them.
Health Factor is the most threatening factor about steroid use in sports. The steroid use in sports is excessively increasing. Sports persons are widely using steroids as performance enhancing drugs, but they should be aware of the serious consequences of steroid use in sports; these short-term enhancements may cause long-term harms.
