A romantic comedy is a kind of movie that a mixture of hale romance tale and half humorous story, but seem like these days movie producer try to focus on humour rather than romance, to make the movie in top chart. The most distinct characteristic of romantic comedy is the writer trying to draw people’s attention around this issues

- There must be a person out there just for you, you just try your best to find him/her and you will experience true love
- Only true love and beat all obstacles
And the good romantic comedy have to put more humour into the movie most of the time, for example in that scene that when women and men approach to each other, this scene can be perceived by songs popular romantic comedies of each generation to attract audience.
In that sense, sometimes romantic comedy also have a plot story about how people in different generation relate to each other, for example, the play between adult and children in the movie Sleepless in Seattle. The writer of romantic comedy, therefore, should not focus on what is popular now, but have to think about the way they will recover audience’s memories about their good and impressive old time.
So where the plot story of romantic comedy movie should be derived from?
Firstly, movie producer should select from any well-told story. The good story that suitable for making movie should have very solid pattern and structure in terms of telling people what’s going on. This is expressed in a story's premise, which lays out its core dramatic issue, movement and fulfillment. As mentioned that even though romantic comedy movie these days tend to focus on humour side rather than dramatic side, but being focus on dramatic side also still important. So the movie producer should consider about the balance between dramatic side and humour side which should be focus on.
Sometimes the story that they choose for make movie is very dramatic focused, so it is quite difficult to insert any of humour scene into the story, or even they finally made it, the story may not be very successful. The romance or dramatic side itself doesn’t have to be very focus on the result, for example, does not focus on the result whether or not the guy will finally get married with the girl. In stead, the story should focus on the way they tell story. The story will be much more interesting if movie maker be able to insert humour scene into the story to make it more funny. For example, like the Bridget Jone’s Diary movie is a very good example in my opinion. The story goes exactly in what she wrote in her diary regardless to the result or what is going to be like at the end. Audiences were very happy and no one care about how the movie ends, because they gain enough both humour and romance during the story.
In summary good romantic comedy should have proper balance between romance side and humour side. Attractive romantic comedy movie doesn’t have to be happy ending, it’s all about how the story goes and whether you will insert humour scene into the movie.
