Breasts for ages have been a sign of femininity and sexuality. The funny thing is that it seems like a "the other side is greener" sort of phenomena. women without large breasts want larger more voluptuous curves and women with large breasts often feel self conscious about them or are annoyed because they get in the way, or experience back pain or neck pain caused by the extra stress of having to hold extra weight up in the front. So what to we do? Well we surely don't just accept the way God made us do we? No, we either add more of what we want or cut off what we don't like. The problem with this attitude is that it forgets that surgery is surgery and there is risk.
The risks of any surgery are bleeding, infection, and bad reactions to anesthesia. Ultimately you are increasing your risk of death any time you go under the knife. So you have to decide whether it is worth dying for to look good, and how much risk you are willing to take. After you get past that mental hurdle, then you can concentrate on the specific procedures involved in breast enlargement.
Breast enlargement surgery basically involves 3 steps. First you have to decide on the size that you want. There are many different software packages that cosmetic surgeons have that can give you an idea of what a certain size implant will look like on you. The second step is then making space under your skin in which will eventually be place the implant. This involves cutting in and carefully placing a expansion implant in underneath the existing breast. This is a contraption that has a port through with the surgeon will inject saline every several days until the skin has been stretched enough to introduce the previously selected implant. The time is variable for this process depending on the change in the size of original versus desired size, but can often take several weeks with frequent office visits to get the implant injected. This process is often painful, especially at the end as the skin is stretched tighter than a drum over the expansion implant.
When the breast skin and underlying tissue has been stretched adequately then it is time to introduce the implant. Implants can either be silicone or sterile saline. Each has different appearance and texture qualities as well as durability ratings. There was an issue with silicone implants some time ago as it was alleged that broken silicone implants were causing increased risk for rheumatologic disease. This has since been debunked but not before several large cases went through the courts awarding the "victims" with millions of dollars. Once the implants are in place they are sewn in under the fascia to keep them in place. Then a good surgeon will spend some time making sure that everything is symmetric and the creases beneath each breast are in the proper location. And tada, the breast enlargement has been accomplished!
