Some try to suppress tears because they felt is diminishing or might make them seem weak. But according to science, there are a lot to gain when you allow those waters roll down your cheeks.

Have you ever noticed that when you cry your body becomes so relaxed that you feel like falling asleep? that's because crying has a calming effect. Crying releases some oxytocin and endorphins. Chemicals that makes you feel good and can ease your pain both physically and emotionally.

The benefits aren’t immediate, however. It may take several minutes of shedding tears before you feel the soothing effects of crying.

The oxytocin and neurotransmitters earlier mentioned also help to uplift your mood. Also when you cry, specifically sobbing, you take in many quick breath of cool air which can help reduce the temperature of your brain. A cooler brain brings your body more pleasure than a warmer brain.

Crying makes you release stress

A research have claimed that crying can alleviate stress. When you cry, your body tend to release some stress hormones specifically cortisol, through tears. Although there are no much researches backing this claims. Researchers do indicate that there is still a lot of research to be done on it.

It protects from bacteria

Our eyes constantly release tears (continuous tears) in order to clear off microbes. Tears contain an enzyme called lysosomes, this enzyme helps tto clean the eyes and prevent microbial attacks.
