Coffee Could be the Easiest Way of Fighting Obesity

Brown adipose tissue (BAT), also known as brown fat, is one of two types of fat found in humans. Its main function is to generate body heat by burning calories which is a key to loosing weight.

The action is opposite to white fat, which stores excess calories and helps one build weight.

Scientists from the University of Nottingham discovered that drinking a cup of coffee can stimulate 'brown fat', to help burn more calories in order to reduce obesity.

Heart health

Drinking coffee can reduce heart failure.

Liver disease

Regular consumption of coffee is linked to a reduced risk of primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), a rare autoimmune disease of the bile ducts in the liver. Also coffee consumption can lower the incidence of cirrhosis of the liver by 22% for those that drinks alcohol. 

Liver cancer

Italian researchers found that coffee consumption lowers the risk of liver cancer by about 40%. In addition, some of the results suggest that if you drink three cups a day, the risks are reduced by more than 50%.

Diabetes

Coffee may also help to protect against type 2 diabetes. Researchers identified that drinking coffee increases plasma levels of the protein "sex hormone-binding globulin" (SHBG) which controls the biological activity of the body's sex hormones (testosterone and estrogen) which play a role in the development of type 2 diabetes.
