How to Fix Touchscreen Problems Yourself Without a Repairer

Screen problems can be very annoying and frustrating. Ignorance have made a lot of people spend money where not necessary. It will be intriguing to know that most touch screen problems does not warrant you going to a repairer where you would have to spend some money. Most of these problems are actually things you can fix yourself without having to spend a dime unless the situation is beyond what you can handle.

In this article, you are going to be learning some few things on how to fix touchscreen problems on Android smartphone and tablets yourself. Problems could be;

.    The touchscreen stopped working on an Android cell phone and doesn't respond to any taps;

   Touch screen doesn't respond correctly, for example, when you tap "p", you get "m"; or when you tap "3" you get "8"

.    Touch screen lags.

Why is My Phone Touch Screen Not Working?

Phone touch screen could stop working for a number of reasons. Here are the most common reasons why your android device don't respond to your touch.

   Physical damage. The touch screen is broken or damaged. High temperature, cold, moisture, magnet, static electricity can all damaged touchscreen on Android phone;

.    Malicious draining apps. that crash the phone so the touch screen is unresponsive;

.    Firmware update. Android system crashes after a firmware update, ROM flashing, etc.

.    Wrong settings. A factory reset could restore the phone to default settings and fix the problem.

* How to fix touchscreen that's not working

If there are no physical damage to your touchscreen yet it suddenly stops respond to your touches, software problems may be the cause. You could easily resolve it by doing any of the following

1. Restart Android Device

This is actually the first thing you need to do before rushing into any other troubleshooting procedure. Restarting your device may help fix software glitches that may prevent the screen from functioning.

.    Press and hold the power button until the screen becomes black;

   After 1 minute or so, hold the power button again to power on the device.

In many cases, the touch screen will respond normally after the device reboots.

If this does not work, go to the next procedure;

2. Remove Memory Card & SIM Card

Faulty memory cards and SIM cards may be the culprit. You may want to check that out. 

   Power off your device (keep holding power button if the screen is totally unresponsive);

.    Remove back cover of your Android device and take off memory & SIM card;

   Reboot the device and see if the problem is gone.

If that doesn't work, see the next thing you should do.

3. Put Device in Safe Mode

Sometimes applications are responsible for glitches that your phone experience. Putting your phone on a safe mode will automatically disable those mal-apps. If your phone worked well while on a safe mode, it means you have to uninstall those applications causing the glitches. To put your phone on a safe mode, follow these steps below.

   Power off your Android device

.    Long press power button to reboot the device;

.    When you see the phone coming up probably when you see the logo, release the power button and hold down the Volume Down button;

.    Release Volume Down button when the device boots up with a Safe mode indicator on the bottom left corner.

Other methods of putting your phone in a safe mode includes:

.    Hold the power button until the power options menu appears;

   Long-press the Power Off ;

.    When you see the message whether to reboot your device into safe mode, tap "OK".

Consider the next option if this one doesn't workout.

4. Factory Reset Android Device in Recovery Mode

If the touch screen is completely unresponsive, restoring factory setting in Recovery Mode may help. However, this will delete all data in your Android device, including downloaded apps, photos, messages, contacts, etc. You need to backup your files before proceeding with this step.

Factory reset your phone

.    Open your phone's Settings app.
.    Tap System And then Advanced And then Reset options. If you don't see "Advanced," tap Reset options.
.    Tap Erase all data (factory reset) And then Reset phone. If needed, enter your PIN, pattern, or password.
   To erase all data from your phone's internal storage, tap Erase everything.
   When your phone has finished erasing, pick the option to restart.
   Set up your phone and restore your backed-up data.

If you can't open your phone's Settings app, you can try factory resetting your phone using its power and volume buttons.

Note: If the touch screen is still unresponsive even after a factory reset was performed, please move to the following methods to fix phone screen.

5. Calibrate Touch Screen on Android with Apps

There are applications on Google play store you can download. They can help calibrate your screen and improve it performance. All you need to do is type touchscreen calibration in the search box in Google play store, download whichever one you like, install it and follow the steps. It's quite easy because it tells you what to do and task you need to complete.

If you couldn't fix the issue even after trying all these steps, then it may be time to consider changing your touch screen which you could always do by going to a repairer.
